California is trying to reverse the consequences of Proposition 47, in effect since 2014, which classified thefts under $950 as misdemeanors. The current Proposition 36 increases penalties for repeat offenders and certain crimes related to theft and drugs, allowing some offenses previously considered minor to be prosecuted as felonies again.

THE ART OF STEALTH AND DISCRETION

Some people just can’t resist the forbidden, as if they have some ancient instinct pushing them to act. It doesn’t matter what it is; if they see something that isn’t theirs, that uncontrollable urge to take overcomes them. Enter today’s star: a woman who, with a blend of stealth and clumsiness, tries to steal a package from her neighbor’s doorstep.

What’s funny is that she seems very aware of the possibility of a camera watching her, doing everything she can to hide her face. But discretion isn’t exactly her strong suit, and every move she makes only gives her away more. The best part? She has no clue what's inside the package. It could be something valuable or just a set of cheap socks, but the thrill and danger of the heist seem to be all she cares about.

THE THIEF DELIVERY GUY

So, with online sales on the rise, package thefts from people's doorsteps have also increased. In this case, a security camera catches the delivery guy dropping off a package, taking a photo of the delivery, and then picking it up again to steal it.

Like, if no one's gonna keep it here, might as well keep it for myself.
